Unregistered Mobile Lenders To Cease Operation In Kenya

By Owino Nyakiti  September 17, 2022, is the deadline set by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) to get rid of Digital Credit Providers (DCP) who will not have been registered with the regulator. This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta last year signed the Central Bank Act 2021, that placed all digital lenders under CBK. So far, CBK has already set a raft of measures to regulate the sector, saying owners of these mobile lenders will also be subjected to self-audit to tame money laundering in the country. TRAGIC! Plane Crash With Over 100 Aboard

China's Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) announced on Monday.  So far, the number of casualties are unknown, but Guangxi's emergency services said rescuers were on their way to the crash site.  The aircraft which was flying from the Kunming city to Guangzhou lost contact over the city of Wuzhou. FlightRadar24 said the Boeing 737-89P rapidly lost speed before entering a sharp descent. State media reported that the jet crashed in a mountainous region and immediately sparked a fire in the forest. Rongo University Earmarked By DCI For KCSE Fraud

By Owino Nyakiti  Some of the suspects of the KCSE exam cheating (PHOTO: DCI) Four college students have been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection to a criminal syndicate allegedly responsible for selling Kenya Certificate of Secondary Schools Examinations (KCSE) to candidates all over the country. According to police reports, the main suspect, Baringo Technical College IT student Kibet Tanui alias Evans Kipruto, led detectives to his three accomplices after he was arrested on the morning of March 15 in a rental house outside the learning institution. Through the local dailies published on March 14, the Ministry announced over 100 vacant positions of Principal Quality Assurance and Standards Officers. It also stated that a salary range between Ksh63,000 and Ksh101,000 inclusive of allowances will be offered to the successful applicants. Further commuter allowance of Ksh8,000 and leave allowance of Ksh6,000 as well as house and medical allowances will also be provided depending on the prevailing conditions. 'Men's Conference Chairman' Mzee Kibor Is Dead

By Owino Nyakiti  Mr. Jackson Kiprotich Kibor (PHOTO: Courtesy) Jackson Kiprotich Kibor, a wealthy businessman and politician from Eldoret, has died at St. Luke's Hospital, Eldoret. He was in his late 80 The family confirmed Mr. Kibor's demise after a long illness on Wednesday 16. Mr. Kibor who passed on in his late 80s, had been using oxygen cylinders since October last year after contracting COVID-19. Prior to confirmation of his death, the prominent farmer was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit after doctors revealed that both his kidneys failed.  Nicknamed 'Chairman of the Men's Conference', Kibor became famous both for both good and the bad. Despite his philanthropic gestures to many, he hit the headlines severally for divorce cases with his wives as well as for engaging his children in physical fights over his vast property.
